Iron Age Neck Torc.

Torcs were a form of personal adornment that were commonly worn by Iron Age peoples across Europe. They probably represented the status of the individual wearing them, based on the metal used, with large, gold torcs being worn by the most elite members of Iron Age society.

This design is based on twisted rod torcs that have been found in Britain, and date from the 1st and 2nd century BC. They are formed from one continuous rod of metal that has been twisted to form the loop terminals and the twin rod band.

The external diameter of the small torc is 16.5cm, the internal length of the band, including terminals is 36.5cm, and the front opening gap is 7.cm across. Twisted band thickness: 8mm. Weight: 105g

The external diameter of the standard sized torc is 18cm, the internal length of the band, including terminals is 40cm, and the front opening gap is 7cm across. Twisted band thickness: 8mm. Weight: 115g

As these are hand made there may be some variation in the finished item. We try to keep this item in stock, but if you require one in less than 30 days please email for availability. Larger sizes can be made on request.

Our torcs are hand made in our workshop in Argyll, Scotland, from lead free, REACH compliant brass that is safe to be worn next to the skin.
