The Lewis chessmen were found on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland and date to the 12th century. The late Norse period in Scotland came to a close with the Battle of Largs in 1263, and the following Treaty of Perth in 1265.

The box/board measures 22.5cm x 22.5cm x 4.5cm. The king piece stands 4cm tall.
