Bronze Hedrum Disc Brooch

Borre style disc brooch from Hedrum, Norway.

This small disc brooch, in the Borre style of the mid 9th to 10th century, features 3 bear heads connected by a circular knot. It is based on a find from Hedrum, in Norway, which is similar to a find from Birka in Sweden. This is the design which appears, in a debased form, on our Tiny face brooch.

We are casting each one of these brooches using a solid master model, and the method used for casting the originals that has been meticulously reconstructed using archaeological evidence from the Viking Age, so each one will have small differences due to the casting process.
