Gold Plated Repton Hammer

The Repton Hammer, so called because it was found at Repton, was found buried with its owner. Archaeologist think that the owner was probably part of the Great Heathen army who camped there over the winter of 874, having already conquered Northumbria and Mercia. It was found hung around it's owners neck, complete with two glass beads.

This hammer is made from pewter that has been gold plated.
